When Instagram was first created, it didn’t have the Web version as it did right now and to be honest, I strongly believe that it was more secure than as some popular methods of hacking such as brute force attacks couldn’t be used to infiltrate Instagram accounts.
But when Facebook acquired Instagram for $1 billion in 2015, they soon started making moves to introduce a web portal to Instagram. On the web portal, users could actually log in, enter their login details and browse their own Instagram feeds. The process in itself can be easily compromised by Instagram hackers using either one of the following methods commonly used to hack Instagram.
Did you know that there are thousands of web pages online that are similar to Instagram’s front page? And note, I said thousands not hundreds! You might ask why such pages are there in the first place. Well, such pages are often a hacker’s favorite toy and if you are one, you can also use them. When you are browsing the internet, you might find a link that is redirecting you to ‘Instagram’ When you get to the page on the link, everything will normally be identical to Instagram’s front page except for the address. Normally, most people wouldn’t bother to check and they blindly enter their Instagram login details which are then used by hackers to access their accounts.
A brute force attack is one of the best methods used to hack Instagram. Most people would argue that brute force attacks are depended on luck but I would beg to differ. Rather than luck, brute force attacks depend on probability. To run a brute force, a hacker must have access to a person’s Instagram username, they input it and many password combinations are then run and eventually a jackpot would be hit.
3. Cookie Jacking
Just like carjacking, cookie jacking works in the very same way. As you browse the internet, browsers and websites keep track of your sessions and activity. Some of the things that these browsers will keep track of are your passwords and yes, including your Instagram password. The problem will arise from the fact that cookies can be hacked by Instagram hackers thus the term, ‘Cookie jacking’ When your cookies are hacked, the integrity of your passwords will be compromised and these will be used to hack Instagram accounts.
